Cost-effective and white in colour, this general-purpose silicone is a high-modulus silicone sealant. Able to successfully adhere to most smooth and non-porous materials, it includes an anti-fungal compound that restricts mould growth in humid areas. It also creates a permanently flexible seal.
During application, you should refer to the recommended joint ratios. Where needed, minimise the joint depth using fill and fix expanding foam or a joint backer rod. Make sure the joint design only allows adhesion to two surfaces because three-sided adhesion impacts flexibility. Cut the tip of the cartridge without damaging the thread. Apply the nozzle and cut cleanly at a 45° angle with an opening marginally bigger than the gap. Use a standard sealant gun and gain the best results by keeping even pressure on the gun trigger and maintaining the angle to the surface.
For a perfect finish, smooth down the sealant within ten minutes of applying. For a proper bond, smooth using a spatula or a piece of wood wetted with soap and water. You can enhance the appearance by placing masking tape on either side of the joint and removing it within five minutes of application.
